Sophia is unsure about the play room.
We were finally able to take Sophia to the play room today. At first she seemed like she was going to like it until she got scared by huge rubber ball. After that she was fussy and just sat there checking things out and she really wasn’t enjoying herself. Just when we decided that we were going to take her to our normal visiting room one of the employees came in and said, “excuse me, early on” and pointed down stairs. We thought she meant that Sophia was to young for this and to go to the other room. We didn't know how to tell her we had permission because our coordinator was late today. We later found out that there was a news crew on scene doing a story about the baby house and she wanted us to go to the visiting room which oddly enough in Russian sounds like early on. Who knew? It was all good since we wanted to go there anyway. We think we will have to let Sophia experience new things a little at a time. It’s a shame that the children here are into such a routine that one little change gets them worked up. She also seems to have a cold and is coughing so this might have something to do with her being upset today The doctor at the baby house gave us a prescription for some medication for Sophia which we picked up today. Hopefully it helps.

Children are like that when they encounter something new. I remember when Jen first crawled on grass. She freaked out! So I crawled on it with her and then she was okay. Being put in a big rectangle full of those balls would be strange to me too. Kind of like trying to run in the sand.
Still enjoying your updates. Jen was home all last week so I was way distracted from my normal schedule. See what little girls do to your world???
Jen and I had fun playing with Chico and Nellie Belle. Chico just loves everyone. Nellie was shy at first and wouldn't come out to play until I carried her outside. Then she had to chase cars (from inside the fence) and she was quickly back to her outgoing self (barking up a storm). Once she realized that Jen was in charge of treats... she was her best friend.
Do they have domestic animals as pets? Or just wild goats?
Love you all.

and todays visit with sophia is sponsored by the letter "o" and the number Zero....
loved the picture of Bill and Sophia in the big circle! Don't worry, I bet she will feel more comfortable next time! At least you guys got a little change of scenery! I hope Sophia is feeling better soon! I bet getting a prescription filled is fun in a foreign country! :~)
Leeza was SCARED to death at first. She cried and would not move off my lap. She sat on my lap and we read books and played with her familiar bag of toys. She only learned to love the ball pit when her big brother got in and cleared a spot for them to sit with NO BALLS. It took a few times for her to get used to it. All kids are like that with new things-espeically kids who live their lives in mostly one room!
Keep bringing her back and let her play in your lap until she feels brave enough to venture out. :)
