Please NO crewcut!!!

When we arrived at the baby house today Sophia was in a walker. She was having herself a grand old time pulling on a stroller that was in the room and she gave us some big smiles when she seen us. She really seems to enjoy the walker. We think she feels like she has freedom from the crib when she is in the walker. We took her to the visiting room and quickly discovered that she had a very dirty diaper. Thankfully the caretakers took care of that problem for us. Talk about bad enough to clear a room. We don’t know where she gets that from. The good news is it afforded us an opportunity to change her into a cute outfit with little turtles on it instead of the normal baby house clothes. When we returned to the visiting room Sophia was happy, giggly and doing all her cute stuff. We had a good visit.

We are so glad we were at the baby house today because they gave all the kids a crewcut for the summer. We asked them not to give Sophia a haircut because we just love her curls. So far she still has them but we don't know how long that will last. We really hope that we don't go there one day to a military looking baby. We think this is strange because when the kids go outside they dress them in three layers of clothes, two pair of socks and a hat and it's 90 degrees but they shave the head for summer. What gives? At the end of our visit today they even told us to keep Sophia on the carpet because he only had one pair of socks on.

After the visit we went to eat at the pancake house. Good suggestion Susan! We had crepes filled with fresh fruit and ice cream, one with apples and another with honey. The food was good but the servers didn’t have much personality. We just got that stern Russian look with no smiles and they were all business. When he went into the restaurant it looked like all the employees were eating lunch so maybe it was just bad timing.

After our meal we went to the open air market and bought Sophia a cute little stroller that seems to be all the rage here. We are going to use it around the baby house and leave it there as a donation. We can't wait to get some pictures of her in it. Have a good one and enjoy the photos. We enjoyed taking them.

ooh glad you liked the crepes-even if the servers were "rude". but, maybe it's not so much rudeness..just the cultural and language barrier too. :)

Oh my gosh..HOW CUTE IS SHE! What a dollface. They never shaved Leeza's head, Tatiana told them not too, so make sure Olyessa tells them that for you. Leeza didn't have nearly as much hair as Sophia but I still didn't want the lil bit she had shaved off. :)

I love those lil strollers-they are so cute! Leeza lived in my ergo (and still does) so we never had the need for one, but I loved those cute strollers. :)

I love the pics of her in her turtle outfit-she is SO PRETTY!

LOL... you two are too funny.... having someone else change the diaper. Oh gosh, I hope those curls don't get cut off... Is it humid there? Just wondering if that adds to the curly effect. (Jen and I have curlier hair in humid places).

Love that outfit and the barette!

I am so glad that they did not cut her beautiful curls! Rustam had a buzz cut when we met him, so we figured they just did it before we got there. I did witness them doing it to other kids and I agree with you that it doesn't seem to make sense. Maybe for bathing ease? The stern Russian personality of many people there is the one thing that made me really homesick. I just wanted to get together with my girlfriends for dinner and have a good hour laugh fest with them. It just is not the Kazakh way (at least in public). Another thing is that they don't seem to get our sarcasm. Things we said that we thought were funny wound up being insulting at times. Oops. Like Susan said, cultural differences. That stroller is adorable.
