Bonding period, Day 1, AGAIN????

When we arrived at the baby house today we expected to have bonding day two. Much to our disappointment we were told that the director wouldn’t count yesterday as day one because she wasn’t there on a Sunday. So as a result today was bonding day one. That’s just fine with us because we signed the book today and we’re on track to getting our little monkey. We had another interview with the director today. We had to sign some papers and she wanted to make sure this was the child we wanted to adopt. She asked we wanted to see any other children. After much consideration, just kidding we couldn’t say we wanted to adopt this child fast enough. After all the paperwork was done we were able to finish our visit with Sophia. It was a great one, she was playful as ever and was so much fun to be with today. She’s a keeper.

After our visit today we went to eat at a Russian Cafe. It was very good and we hope to dine there again.

For all of you who wonder if we're safe at our apartment we wanted to put a picture of our apartment door on here. I'll explain. There is an inner wood door which is nice and solid with a lock. There is a steel outer door that kind of looks like a vault door with medieval locks. It's very heavy steal, with a home made dead bolt, and two other locks that I swear if they can defeat I will help them carry the valuables down the 60 steps to the other outer steal door that leads to the free world. That's right just to get into our apartment we have to go through a steal security door, 60 steps, another steal security door and a solid wood door. Don't worry we feel very safe.

Those doors cracked me up..I was always so worried i would get LOCKED IN! I always felt very safe too. :)

Congrats on having bonding day one AGAIN. :) Does the new director do tours of the baby house? Dr. Irina used to do them and it was REALLY interesting and amazing to see the operation and here that over 50% of the babies there are NOT available for adoption...and makes you realize why you waited so long.

but, of course, you know NOW why you waited so long...for your blonde haired blue eyed Cervola angel. :)

Did you go to the Russian bar? it's on the main square...a yellow building on the outside? We took Leeza there for her first lunch when we got to escape to get her passport picture..it was SO fun. :)
They have great soup there..that is what I always got. :) Miss that Kostanai yummy food.

I also recommend "the pancake house"..they have very good crepes....ham and cheese, chicken and cheese, and chocolate were my favorite. :)

Between Dolce Vita, the crepe house, the Russian bar, and the coffee shop, we ate VERY well. :) and even lost weight. amazing. :)

So what do you eat at a Russian cafe? We're enjoying the comments from the folks who have been there before. Sounds fascinating. We wondered about the day one on a Sunday thing... so not surprised that it was just a rehearsal.

Still waiting for your tiger lillies to bloom. We'll take some photos for you!

Hugs to everyone... we can't wait for the real hugs!
Love,
Dad and Tamara

You are definitely on the ever changing Kaz time now. You have the right outlook that will get you through to bringing home your little monkey. Those doors are something aren't they? Chris used to say that they would need a blow torch to get in. That sure made me feel safe, too. 60 steps? Wow, you two will have rock solid legs by August!
